The Liberal Democrats had the biggest vote increase in Dundee at the recent General Election of ANY of the parties. In Dundee West, NYKOMA GARRY increased our vote to over 5,300 - hugely up on 2001 - taking an extra 5.2% of the total vote share and pushing the Tories firmly into fourth place.

In Dundee East, CLIVE SNEDDON increased our vote to nearly 4,500 - again hugely up on 2001 - taking an extra 2.7% of the total vote share.

This result continues the trend of Liberal Democrat increased support in the City in recent years - the Liberal Democrats were the only one of the main four parties whose share of the vote increased at the 2003 Dundee City Council elections.

In Dundee West, the Liberal Democrats have gained Labour held Tay Bridges Ward and Scot Nat held Strathmartine Ward in recent years. Further electoral growth of the Liberal Democrats in the city is predicted in 2007, when the next City Council and Scottish Parliamentary elections take place.
