SNP Trident Tax Hike plans "totally irresponsible"

26 Jan 2007

Dundee LibDems today (Friday 26th January) backed comments by Scottish Liberal Democrat MSP for North East Fife, Iain Smith who has slammed the SNP's Trident tax plans as irresponsible.

Iain Smith has written to SNP Leader at Westminster Alex Salmond to demand to know which public services he will cut to fund the tax.

Mr Smith said, "We know the SNP's sums never add up, but not working out that this policy could mean budget cuts for schools and hospitals shows just how irresponsible they can be."

Locally, here in Dundee, Liberal Democrat spokesperson Allan Petrie said, "The SNP's crazy Trident Tax proposal is yet another example of SNP tabloid politics. Mr Salmond has lost the plot and his crazy Trident Tax will simply result in cuts in Scottish public services."
