Raymond Lawrie welcomes national "Beachwatch" weekend

Dundee Liberal Democrats' Convener and spokesperson for Broughty Ferry, Raymond Lawrie, today (Sunday 17th September) welcomed this weekend's national "Beachwatch" campaign.

Beachwatch is a nationwide beach clean-up and litter survey organised by the Marine Conservation Society - the UK charity dedicated to the protection of the marine environment and its wildlife.

The Beachwatch litter survey and clean-up is a national event that has taken place on the third weekend of September every year since 1993.

Raymond said, "Across the UK, thousands of volunteers from around the UK spend hours of the Beachwatch weekend helping to clean up and survey our coastline. We are very lucky here in Broughty Ferry to have our beautiful 'Blue Flag' beach and I'm delighted that Broughty Ferry is part of the 'Beachwatch' event."
