Dundee Liberal Democrats announced today (Friday 26th January) that Michael Charlton has been selected as their Scottish Parliamentary candidate for Dundee West.

Michael hails originally from County Durham and has made his home in Dundee, where he lives with partner Claire.

A graduate in Economics from the University of Dundee, Michael works in the Dundee and volunteers at the British Red Cross shop. His other interests include reading classical and contemporary literature and playing rugby for Morgan Academy FP.

Commenting on his selection, Liberal Democrat local party Convener Raymond Lawrie said, "We are delighted to have selected a dynamic young candidate. Dundee's political representation needs fresh blood and Michael will provide this. In 2005 at the General Election, it was the Liberal Democrat vote that increased most significantly in Dundee West and its the LibDems who are the party to watch in Dundee this May."
