Former Dundee SNP councillor joins Dundee Liberal Democrats
Former Dundee SNP City Councillor for Pitkerro Ward Allan Petrie announced today (Tuesday 22nd August) that he is joining the Liberal Democrats. He met Scottish Liberal Democrat Leader Nicol Stephen MSP in the City to receive his Liberal Democrat membership card.
Allan chairs the Mid Craigie and Linlathen Safety Panel, is a Director of the Mid Craigie and Linlathen under 12's project and serves on the Community Regeneration Forum which covers Douglas, Linlathen and Mid Craigie.
Allan said, "I am really pleased to be joining the Liberal Democrats at a time when the party is in great shape and poised to make great advances both in Dundee and across Scotland next May. I have been impressed with the positive message of the LibDems and contrast this with the growing negativity of the SNP."
Dundee Liberal Democrat local party Convener Raymond Lawrie said, "We are delighted to welcome Allan to the Liberal Democrats in Dundee. Allan does great work in his local community and he will be a great asset to the party in the years ahead."
Mr Lawrie predicted significant Liberal Democrat council seat gains in Dundee at next May's City Council elections. "The Liberal Democrats are the growing force in Dundee politics and we expect significant gains here next May," concluded Mr Lawrie.
