Finance Convener hails success of benefits take-up campaign

Dundee City Council's Liberal Democrat Convener of Finance today (Monday 14th August) welcomed the success of a City Council and Department for Work and Pensions benefit take up campaign in Dundee.
"This was a short campaign in the City Centre earlier in the year but already additional benefits and allowances exceeding £30 000 have resulted for local people. It is estimated that the final total, including Housing and Council Tax Benefit will be in the order of £40 000," said Cllr Macpherson.
I am particularly pleased that over half of the benefits are Attendance Allowance, which helps older citizens with care and mobility issues."
Cllr Macpherson pointed out that this campaign was a supplement to the tremendous efforts of the City Council's Welfare Rights Team, who provide benefits advice all year round.
