14 Sep 2006

Dundee LibDems today (Thursday 14th September) have welcomed a report to the City Council's Education Committee recommending support for local schools getting ready for a new technology project.

Next Monday, the Council's Education Committee is being asked to approve the city council signing up to Scottish Schools Digital Network (SSDN) led by Scottish Executive.

The SSDN national computer intranet will connect nearly one million teachers and pupils across Scotland in a safe and secure digital community. It will provide children and staff with emails, forums, chat and video conferencing, as well as access to a range of curricular content.

Dundee City Council LibDem Finance Convener, Cllr Fraser Macpherson said, "This is an excellent project and I am sure the City Council's Education Committee will give its full backing."
