Dundee Liberal Democrats welcome climate change declaration

20 Jan 2007

News that Dundee City Council became, earlier this week, one of Scotland's first local authorities to sign the new Declaration on Climate Change was today (Saturday 20th January) welcomed by Dundee Liberal Democrats.

Scotland's Liberal Democrat Environment Minister Ross Finnie MSP said, "An effective response to climate change cannot be achieved by central government alone. Scotland's communities will be in the front line in responding to the impacts of climate change and also have a role in reducing emissions of greenhouse gases that are contributing to climate change."

Dundee City Council's LibDem Vice Convener of Environmental Services and Sustainability, Cllr Helen Dick, said, "It is good to see Scotland's local authorities sign up to the climate change declaration and I am particularly pleased to see Dundee at the forefront."
