Dundee Liberal Democrats support new powers for the Scottish Parliament

15 Jan 2007

Dundee LibDems today (Monday 15th January) gave their support to calls by Scottish Liberal Democrat Leader Nicol Stephen MSP for increased powers for the Scottish Parliament.

Mr Stephen said, "Securing more powers for the Scottish Parliament does not mean a separate state. It means a new, modern settlement for Scotland as part of the UK, based on more federal principles."

Locally, here in Dundee, LibDem spokesperson Claire Matthew said, "Dundee Liberal Democrats back Nicol's sensible approach to the constitutional question. This would give Scotland's parliament increased powers, without separation and isolation."
