Dundee Liberal Democrats call on Scottish Government to honour free swimming pledge

Dundee Liberal Democrats today (Friday 11th April) called on the SNP government to stop dragging its feet and implement its promises to provide children with free access to council swimming pools.

Liberal Democrat Sports spokesperson, Jim Tolson MSP, said, "I want to know whether the SNP will keep its promise to offer free access for children to all council swimming pools.

"I've been trying to wring a straight answer out of the Minister for many months now and he has refused to meet with me to discuss the woolly and unsatisfactory answers to my parliamentary questions."

Dundee LibDem City Councillor for Strathmartine Ward, Cllr Helen Dick, added, "For four years, the SNP has repeated its promise to let children in Scotland have free access to local authority swimming pools, but it has done nothing in its first year in power to honour this pledge. It smacks of another broken SNP promise."
