Dundee Liberal Democrats have today (Monday 13th November) supported the proposal of LibDem Shadow Scottish Secretary Jo Swinson MP to use next year's 300th anniversary of the Act of Union as an opportunity to take stock of Scotland's place in the UK.

Jo Swinson raised the issue of further devolution of responsibilities to Holyrood in Parliament last week, calling for a constitutional convention to examine the future transfer of powers.

Jo Swinson said, "There is a sound case for further devolution of powers, particularly in terms of Scotland's fiscal relationship with the UK. Business and enterprise in Scotland will feel the benefits if the Holyrood is given more taxation powers with which to influence the Scottish economy."

Here in Dundee, LibDem local spokesperson Murray Dick said, "The devolutionary settlement has worked and worked well. However, we should be debating the further devolution of greater fiscal powers. The people of Scotland want this and its the sensible alternative to separation and isolation."
