Dundee Liberal Democrats have today (Monday 11th September) welcomed the launch of the LibDem policy framework document 'Trust in People: Make Britain Free, Fair and Green', which will be debated at the party's UK Conference in Brighton.

The document sets out how the party will tackle poverty and social injustice in Britain. At the launch, Sir Menzies Campbell MP announced the creation of a new working group to tackle inequality and poverty, to be chaired by Lib Dem peer Liz Barker.

Sir Menzies said, "I want everybody to have the opportunity to fulfil their ambitions. Poverty and lack of opportunity restrict freedom. Yet despite record growth under this Labour Government wealth inequality has increased, there is low social mobility and there are still pockets of extreme poverty and deprivation."

Locally, Dundee Liberal Democrat spokesperson Allan Petrie said, "This policy framework shows just how committed the Liberal Democrats are about tackling inequality and poverty."
