Dundee LibDems welcome news on unadopted pavements in the City
Dundee Liberal Democrats today (Saturday 9th June) have welcomed moves to deal with unadopted footpaths in Dundee.
Footpaths which are currently not looked after by the city council are taking a giant step forward with extra money totalling £1.2 million to be invested over the next four years.
The new spending proposal is being put to the Policy and Resources Committee at its meeting on Monday 11th June 2007.
LibDem Convener of Planning and Transport, Councillor Fraser Macpherson said: "This new commitment of £1.2 million is on top of the existing £800,000 which is already earmarked from planning and transport for spending on unadopted footpaths. This brings the total spend up to £2million over the next four years.
"We are responding positively to the very many citizens who have raised the need for action on upgrading unadopted footpaths, particularly from elderly people."
