Dundee Liberal Democrats have today (Wednesday 1st November) welcomed a new poll predicting that the Liberal Democrats will gain eight seats in next year's Scottish Parliament elections, putting the party on 25 seats.

The Scotsman / ICM survey is the third poll in a row to anticipate a substantial Lib Dem advance next May. Although it also predicts gains for the ScotNats, it also shows that Labour, the Scottish Socialists and the Conservatives will lose seats.

Nicol Stephen MSP, Leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats said, "This is very good news for the Liberal Democrats. Following our spectacular victory in Dunfermline, it is clear that we are the only party with momentum in Scotland. Support for the Liberal Democrats is growing, not least in new parts of Scotland and especially among the young."

Locally, here in Dundee, Dundee City Council Liberal Democrat Group Leader, Cllr Fraser Macpherson, said, "We will make significant council gains in Dundee next May and will challenge for the two parliamentary seats - this is the most significant Dundee LibDem campaign in living memory."
