Dundee Liberal Democrats today (Thursday 12th October) welcomed news that medical research shows that the Scottish public places smoking ban has helped improve the health of Dundee's bar staff.

A study by the University of Dundee's Asthma and Allergy Research Group is the first major medical research into the effects of the ban and Dr Daniel Menzies, from the research group made clear that the results proved the ban had improved the quality of life for bar workers.

Cllr Helen Dick, Dundee City Council's LibDem Vice Convener of Environmental Services and Sustainability, said, "It is really good news to see the positive effects of the ban of smoking in public places here in Dundee."
