Dundee Liberal Democrats today (Monday 27th November) welcomed news that the number of deaths and injuries on Scotland's roads in 2005 were at their lowest level for more than fifty years, according to the latest statistics.

However, Liberal Democrat Transport Minister Tavish Scott said: "It has been all too evident in recent months that road safety messages, particularly among young drivers, still need to be heard."

Locally, here in Dundee LibDem spokesperson Cllr Helen Dick said, "Whilst it is good to see the positive trend in these statistics, continuing to develop a joined-up approach on road safety and education in Scotland is vital."
