Dundee Liberal Democrats today (27th February 2006) welcomed the launch today of an online debate, organised by the Hansard Society, giving under-18s the opportunity to make their voices heard on the issue of the European Union.

The debate - called "headsup" - has contributing decision-makers including Nick Clegg MP, Liberal Democrat Europe Spokesperson and Douglas Alexander MP, Minister of State for Europe.

The Hansard Society is an independent, non-partisan educational charity, which exists to promote effective parliamentary democracy.

Locally, Cllr Fraser Macpherson, Dundee LibDem Council Group Leader said, "The "headsup" online debate on Europe gives young people the opportunity to give their views on the EU. Its important that under 18s get the opportunity to make their voices heard."
