Dundee LibDems welcome end of "iTrip idiocy"

29 Jul 2006

Dundee Liberal Democrat local party Convener, Raymond Lawrie, has today (Saturday 29th July) welcomed Ofcom's decision to end a ban on iTrip, a popular iPod accessory.

iTrip allows a wireless connection between MP3 players and FM radios. It does this by transmitting a very low power FM signal to the radio.

"The Liberal Democrats have campaigned for this decision for two years," said Raymond.

"I am delighted that this ludicrous ban has now ended"

Low powered FM transmitters have been banned since the 1940s and the iTrip was therefore only available on the black market until now.

"Ofcom has made an intelligent and sensible decision," said Raymond. "This is not the world of the 1940s - welcome to the 21st Century!"
