Dundee LibDems welcome city's recycling success

9 Oct 2006

Dundee City Council's Liberal Democrat Vice Convener of Environmental Services and Sustainability, Cllr Helen Dick, today (Monday 9th October) welcomed the news that Dundee is now third in Scotland's recycling league table.

The latest quarterly figures show Dundee recycled or composted 31.2% of its refuse - the Scottish average is just 22.2%. Scotland's other cities fell significantly below the Dundee figure and the Scottish target is 25% recycling and composting rates by the end of this year.

Helen said, "These latest figures from the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) are very encouraging right across Scotland, but nowhere more so than in Dundee. Once again, Dundee is helping to lead the field."
