Dundee LibDems support "Best Bar None" launch in the City
Dundee Liberal Democrat Council Group Leader Fraser Macpherson today (Wednesday 15th March) attended the launch of the Best Bar None scheme in the City.
The launch at the City Chambers was led by the Lord Provost, along with other City Councillors, representatives from City Centre Management, Tayside Police and representatives from Dundee's licensed trade.
The Best Bar None Award is granted to alcohol sales organisations with long standing commitment to social responsibility and the safety of people using their premises. It aims to cut down on alcohol related crime and irresponsible drinking.
Premises gaining the award display a plaque outside to show the public that they have reached the standard and care about social responsibility, and their customers welfare. Therefore, the customer is given more informed choice when choosing were to consume alcohol, and it supports premises who seek to trade at a higher standard.
Fraser said today, "Best Bar None, after a successful Scottish pilot in Glasgow, is a very welcome addition to Dundee. It will complement the existing excellent work by City Centre Management team and the highly successful DUNCAN scheme in particular."
