At a time when the eyes of the world are upon the situation in Tibet and with great public concern across the world over this issue, Dundee LibDems today (Wednesday 9th April) expressed bewilderment at the decision of the Scottish Government Education Secretary, SNP Fiona Hyslop, to make this the time to visit China.

Liberal Democrat Shadow Education Secretary, Jeremy Purvis MSP said, "No-one would deny the need for there to be close links on education policy between Scotland and China, but Fiona Hyslop's visit is wholly inappropriate given the international concerns expressed over the current situation in Tibet."

Here in Dundee, LibDem City Councillor for Strathmartine Ward, Cllr Helen Dick, said, "I am frankly astonished at Ms Hyslop's lack of judgement over the timing of her visit."
