Dundee LibDems' concerns about further energy price hikes

18 Aug 2006

News that energy company Powergen has said it is putting up its gas and electricity prices for the second time this year was greeted with concern by Dundee Liberal Democrat Councillor Helen Dick today (Friday 18th August).

Helen said, "The greatly increased cost of electricity and gas is a real worry for householders and I am particularly concerned about the impact on elderly people."

Liberal Democrat Shadow Trade and Industry Secretary, Edward Davey MP added, "High fuel bills spell misery for millions, especially in Britain's poorest homes.

"The Government has been far too slow to help solve the gas supply problems behind these price hikes, they must act now to make up for lost time."
