11 Feb 2008

Dundee Liberal Democrats have today (Monday 11th February) given their backing to calls by Liberal Democrat Shadow Business Secretary, Sarah Teather MP, for the Westminster Government to properly tackle the gender pay gap right across the UK.

This follows publication of Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform's Select Committee report "Jobs for the Girls."

Sarah said, "The gender pay gap is simply a disgrace, and although it may be closing, this is only happening inch by inch."

Here in Dundee, LibDem councillor and City Council Economic Development Committee Vice Convener, Cllr Helen Dick, said, "There is an urgent need to comprehensively tackle the pay differentials between men and women to ensure fairness and equality."
