Dundee Liberal Democrats today (Sunday 18th February) applauded yesterday's keynote speech by Nicol Stephen MSP, Scottish Liberal Democrat Leader, in which he said the party would "to take the next major step forward".

Mr Stephen outlined the action plan the Scottish Liberal Democrats will undertake during 2007 after the May elections, pointing out that the LibDems' promise to focus on "getting things done".

Scottish Liberal Democrat plans include a bid to recruit 1,000 new community police officers, and to publish an Energy Bill laying out new targets for renewable energy. Non-Domestic rates will be reduced to below levels in England, and the party would commit to ensure the building of 100 new community health centres, built near people's homes, where they could access health care more locally.

Here in Dundee, Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for Dundee West, Michael Charlton, said, "Nicol's speech shows that the Scottish LibDems are making the running across Scotland. We have the positive plans to ensure a bright future for Scotland."
