Cllr Helen Dick applauds Stephen's call for young people to lead fight against climate change

Dundee LibDems today (Thursday 12th April) welcomed news that Nicol Stephen MSP, Leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats, has continued his focus on young people and the environment calling for young people to take the lead in tackling climate change.

Visiting a recycling business in Glasgow Mr Stephen called for schools to lead their communities in tackling climate change.

Nicol said, "I would like to see as much as a fifth of the energy needs of every school being generated on site and recycling to become the norm in every classroom.

"We must ensure our young people know how energy is produced and how to live sustainably in the future. I want to make sure every child learns about protecting the environment, and every school becomes an eco-school."

Here in Dundee, LibDem councillor for Strathmartine Ward and City Council Vice Convener of Environmental Services and Sustainability, Cllr Helen Dick, said, "It is vital that Scotland's young people are fully involved in sustainability and environmental issues and I greatly welcome Nicol's commitment on this vital issue."
