Dundee City Council's Liberal Democrat Finance Convener today (Tuesday 11th July) hailed the 3.6% increase in the City Council's in-year Council Tax collection as a 'vastly improved' situation.

This follows the release of the 2005-6 collection figures by the Scottish Executive. Dundee shows one of the best improvements in collection in recent years which Councillor Macpherson said was both encouraging and significant.

Cllr Macpherson pointed out that the City Council has increased its collection level for the fourth year running. He said, ''I am particularly pleased that we have reached our target in year collection figure of 90% two years earlier than we had targeted.''

''This is a very positive move forward for the Liberal Democrat/Labour administration on the City Council and shows that our finance priorities are bearing fruit,'' he concluded.
