Dundee LibDem Convener welcomes new landlord scheme in the City

15 Feb 2006

The Convener of Dundee Liberal Democrats, Raymond Lawrie has welcomed the introduction of the recently announced Dundee Landlord Accreditation (DLA) scheme.

Private landlords will have to meet an agreed Code of Standards before being accepted into the scheme.

"It is only a volunteer scheme at this time and support from private landlords is essential if it is to succeed," said Mr Lawrie today (15th February 2005)

"However, it must be in everyone's interests to provide well managed, high quality accommodation throughout the city," he continued.

The list of accredited landlords will be open to any member of the public

"The real value of the scheme is anyone can check for accredited landlords, even before they start looking for accommodation" Mr Lawrie continued.

"When I was looking to rent a flat this scheme could have saved me a lot of time and hassle!" he concluded
