'Dazzling achievements still to come' says Clive Sneddon
Dundee East Liberal Democrat parliamentary spokesperson Dr Clive Sneddon has today (Friday 10th March) welcomed the recent restatement of Liberal values by new party leader Sir Menzies Campbell.
Clive said, "Ming's description of our party as offering 'a principled liberal democratic alternative', which is 'a greener, fairer, decentralised and democratic Britain', is absolutely right.
"In local government throughout the country Liberal Democrats have shown themselves concerned to respond to local concerns, to find and implement effective solutions. We promoted environmentally friendly schemes and gave the public a voice in the council chamber before it became fashionable to do so. We have always fought to help those least able to help themselves. We have the credibility to deliver."
Clive concluded, "The managerialism and spin of Blair and Cameron cannot be the answer; if it were the problems of the health and education systems would have been solved by the money thrown at them.
"It needs the principled, devolved approach to find the right cost-effective solutions that work on the ground. Only that way, with full public input, can we arrive at Ming's stated destination, 'a Britain at peace with itself at home and admired abroad'."
