31 Jul 2006

Cllr Helen Dick, Liberal Democrat councillor for Dundee's Strathmartine Ward, today (Monday 31st July) lent her support to moves to have a free-to-use cash machine available in Ardler.

"The City Council has worked to ensure there would be space at the Ardler Complex for an ATM," said Helen. "The announcements last week by the Royal Bank of Scotland and the Bank of Scotland that they are seeking a sites for the installation of more non-fee charging ATMs means that a free-to-use machine in Ardler will hopefully become a reality."

The Royal Bank of Scotland has said it will build 300 new cash machines throughout the UK and it is inviting members of the public to let the Bank who the areas where people think the new free-to-use cash machines should be installed.

Helen added, "You can lend support to Ardler getting a free-to-use ATM by nominating Ardler on the Royal Bank website - www.rbs.com/freecashmachines. I have already contacted the bank to add my voice for calls for a free-to-use ATM in Ardler.

"I am pleased to also note that the Bank of Scotland is considering adding one hundred new free-to-use ATMs throughout Scotland and the north of England too. Having been concerned for some time about the extent of fee-charging cash machines, these are welcome developments," concluded Helen.
