Broughty Ferry Liberal Democrats supporting petition on jet-skis

Raymond Lawrie, Dundee LibDem local party Convener and Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Broughty Ferry, has today (Saturday 12th August) backed an on-line petition that is seeking action from the Scottish Executive to investigate ways of tackling problems caused by jet-skis.

The e-petition by Diana Cairns, on behalf of Portobello Community Council, calls for the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Executive to consider how best to restrict the use of jet-skis in the vicinity of public beaches, particularly in residential areas.

Raymond said, "There have been real concerns following a number of reported incidents in the Broughty Ferry area where irresponsible jet-skiers have caused alarm to swimmers, dolphins and swans.

"There is no doubt that the majority of jet-skiers are perfectly responsible, but its important that the Executive looks at how to tackle the dangerous actions of an irresponsible minority. I would urge residents to sign the petition by following the link below."
