Alison McInnes congratulates Dundee's Factory Skatepark on funding

20 Jan 2015

North East Scotland Liberal Democrat MSP Alison McInnes today welcomed the news that Factory Skatepark in Dundee has secured £300,000 from Social Investment Scotland, an organisation which provides loans to third sector groups in Scotland that would miss out on mainstream bank loans.

Factory Skatepark is a popular social enterprise which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and is the UK's first custom-built indoor extreme sports arena for boarding, blading and BMXing. It recently opened the Fun Factory, which provides facilities such as sensory room, to children who are five-years-old and younger. The investment will be used to create more space for the youngest children.

Mrs McInnes said: "This is wonderful news. We need more social enterprises in Scotland such as Factory Skatepark. They provide space for children and young people to be active and I am glad that the project keeps looking to expand. I wish them the very best of luck for the future."
