Nicola Sturgeon’s nursery recruitment target dropped

Responding to the Children's Minister telling Parliament "the Scottish Government does not set targets for early learning and childcare workforce recruitment", after Scottish Liberal Democrats highlighted how over 100 nurseries are missing the teacher Nicola Sturgeon promised would arrive in 2018, the party's education spokesperson Willie Rennie MSP said:

"Another day, and another SNP education target has been dropped.

"The Scottish Government has dropped its commitment to getting extra expert help to nurseries in the most deprived areas.

"Four years late and falling 25% short of what the First Minister personally promised, the SNP have decided it's better to pretend this never happened instead of actually delivering for Scotland's poorest communities.

"This is shameful. How can we believe anything the SNP say anymore?"
