Responding to the news that the Conservatives and SNP have been ranked at the bottom of Greenpeace's analysis of party manifesto commitments on tackling the climate emergency, above only the Brexit Party, Scottish Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform, Rebecca Bell commented:
"Both the Conservative and SNP manifestos have proven that their obsession with breaking up unions is more important to them than dealing with the climate emergency.
"The Conservatives have slashed support for green energy, scrapped the Climate Change Department and have cosied up to Trump while he vandalises the environment. Meanwhile, the SNP still support expanding Heathrow, despite the huge damage it would do.
"The Liberal Democrats are the only party who have a clear, ambitious plan to cut harmful emissions by 2030 and get to net zero by 2045. We will insulate all Britain's homes and buildings through an emergency 10-year programme, and ensure all new cars are electric within a decade. Confronting the climate emergency is at the very centre of our plans to build a brighter future."
