Commenting on the Scottish Parliament report on STEM in early years education, Scottish Liberal Democrat education spokesperson Beatrice Wishart MSP commented:

"This report makes clear that long-term strategies are needed to improve STEM teaching in the early years so that its impacts are felt later young peoples' lives. But that isn't an excuse for vague targets and warm words which are all that have come from this Government. It is unacceptable that some pupils are being left behind simply because their school doesn't have a proper internet connection or the technicians and equipment needed to deliver lessons.

"At a minimum, schools must have the resources they need and teachers have the time to take part in professional learning. The Scottish Liberal Democrats have been clear that teacher workload needs to be addressed to give teachers the space to develop their skills."
