Commenting on the Prime Minister's proposals for the Northern Irish border, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie said:

"The Prime Minister's new EU proposal is the year-old reheated proposal that the Scottish Conservatives strongly opposed because it threatened the integrity of the United Kingdom.

"The Prime Minister's "all Ireland regulatory zone" creates a border down the Irish Sea. If the Scottish Conservatives have any backbone they would oppose this proposal today and stand up for the integrity of the United Kingdom.

"If this is the Prime Minister's best attempt at a deal it proves that Brexit is bad for the United Kingdom and we should stop Brexit without delay."
