Commenting on a new report by MSP Murdo Fraser for Conservative think tank Bright Blue, which calls for a "new quasi-federal settlement" and the abolition of the House of Lords in favour of a regional senate, Tavish Scott MSP said:

"Scottish Liberal Democrats have campaigned for a federal UK and the abolition of the undemocratic House of Lords for many years.

"There need to be strong dispute resolution mechanisms put in place for a mature and trusting partnership between different parts of the UK. A modern country needs to have a clear way for its different administrations to resolve their differences.

"I hope that Murdo Fraser will now work to convince his colleagues in London of this pressing need."
