Responding to today's announcement by the UK Government of £1.6bn of post-Brexit funding, Liberal Democrat Scottish Affairs spokesperson Jamie Stone MP said:

"The Prime Minister's funding announcement pales in comparison to the detrimental economic impact leaving the EU would have on communities across the UK.

"Scotland stands to lost over £100m a year in EU funding as a result of Brexit. This funding has paid for roads and infrastructure, it cannot be replaced with tea and sympathy.

"The UK Government needs to come clean and set out how Scotland will benefit from this announcement and how much funding will be coming our way.

"When I meet with Jake Berry, Minister for Housing, Communities and Local Government this week I will be stressing to him that communities across Scotland will be hit hard if the UK leaves the EU. We need a People's Vote, with the option to stay in the EU."
