Responding to reports that the SNP are set to formally adopt Andrew Wilson's Growth Commission as party policy at their spring conference, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie said:

"SNP currency plans seem to change with the seasons but what is clear as day is that an independent Scotland would have no choice but to impose austerity on public services.

"This is not some wild claim but the cold, hard reality of independence, laid out in the Growth Commission report and backed up by the widely respected Institute of Fiscal Studies.

"Instead Scottish Liberal Democrats want to see a liberal, fair and open society that shares its fruits across the whole of the UK."
