Responding to the news that the Treasury will contribute up to £5m to the costs of policing Donald Trump's visit to Scotland this month, Scottish Liberal Democrat justice spokesperson Liam McArthur MSP said:

"It's right that the UK contribute to cover the costs of Trump's trip to Scotland, as they did with the G8 Summit in Gleneagles.

"Donald Trump is a pretty unsavoury president. Most people in Scotland don't want him here and the Liberal Democrats will be proud to join protestors across the country highlighting his dismal record with human rights, immigration, trans rights, gender equality, family reunification and much more."
