In response to questioning from Tavish Scott this afternoon, Europe Minister Alasdair Allan has voiced opposition to the unanimous recommendation of the Culture Committee to separate screen sector governance from Creative Scotland.

The proposal has attracted cross-party support in committee and overwhelming industry support.

Tavish Scott said:

"The Culture Committee has explored best practice round the world and it's clear a stand-alone screen agency is the best way to boost film and television activity in Scotland. The Committee knows that, industry knows that, why are ministers the only ones out of the loop?

"Despite all the evidence, government ministers appear blind to the enormous potential of selling Scotland internationally."
