Scottish Liberal Democrat transport spokesperson Mike Rumbles MSP today questioned the transport Minister on ScotRail's failure to meet 22 of 34 performance targets in the quarterly Service Quality Incentive Regime review.

Mr Rumbles pointed out the Transport Minister's rail improvement plans had failed to drive up performance levels.

Speaking afterwards, Mike Rumbles said:

"ScotRail has produced a dire scorecard and is slipping well below standards when it comes to skip stopping, cleanliness, seating and much more. Most embarrassingly of all only 57% of trains are actually making it to their destination on time, a fairly basic requirement.

"The transport Minister referred yet again to an 'action plan', but he can no longer inspire any hope in distant improvement plans.

"ScotRail's performance is an issue the Scottish Government needs to take seriously now."
