Responding to new figures showing that EU nationals working in Scotland contribute an average of £34,400 to GDP, Scottish Liberal Democrat Europe spokesperson Tavish Scott MSP commented:

"This new analysis shows that EU citizens are an essential part of the fabric of Scottish society, from agriculture to our health service.

"They enrich our communities and bring huge economic benefits to Scotland and, with a growing and ageing population over the next 25 years, their presence is essential.

"When Theresa May returns from Brussels with a bad deal or heaven forbid, no deal at all, the British people must be allowed their say on it, with the option to exit from Brexit."
