Responding to new GDP figures showing growth in the Scottish economy slowed to 0.1% in the last quarter, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie MSP said:

"These figures show there is no room for the Scottish Government to start celebrating. The SNP are presiding over an erratic economy. The brush with recession has been replaced by marginal growth.

"The only clear route out of this is a transformational investment in education and skills. Scottish Liberal Democrats will continue to champion this because it is the route to establishing a high-wage, high-skill economy."
