Scottish Liberal Democrat rural affairs spokesperson Mike Rumbles MSP has today attacked the Scottish Government accusing them of being "asleep on the job" after their programme for government contained no reference to the rural economy.

Mr Rumbles said:

"The Scottish Government's plan contains nothing of substance to reverse the damage they have done to rural communities.

"Scotland's rural areas have had to stomach the SNP's fiasco over their farming support payments.

"It would be fair to expect the Scottish Government to bring forward a substantial package of proposals to boost the rural economy. Once again, the SNP are asleep on the rural job."
