Scot Lib Dems: Recession threat must prevent jobs complacency

Commenting on the unemployment figures released today, Scottish Liberal Democrat economy spokesperson Carolyn Caddick said:

"Coming on the back of months of disappointing economic data, these statistics are a step in the right direction.

"However, the SNP Government must not get complacent because our economy remains on the brink of a recession. We also face the threat of an extreme Brexit that will shred jobs across the country and the uncertainty generated by the threat of another divisive independence referendum.

"Scottish Liberal Democrats recognise that the best thing we can do for jobs is to keep Scotland at the heart of the UK and the UK at the heart of Europe, alongside transformative investment in education and mental health to build the high wage, highly skilled economy of the future."
