As election campaigning resumes after the Manchester atrocity, the Scottish Liberal Democrats are highlighting the contribution of NHS workers.

On a visit to a pharmacist in Glasgow, party leader Willie Rennie has recognised the important and dedicated role of health and care staff in Scotland.

The Scottish Liberal Democrats are calling for NHS workers who are EU nationals to be given the immediate right to continue working in Scotland, regardless of the outcome of the Brexit negotiations.

Speaking on a visit to a pharmacist in Glasgow, party leader Willie Rennie said:

"More than a thousand doctors in the Scottish NHS are EU nationals. This includes more than 200 family GPs.

"The number of nurses and care workers from the EU runs into thousands.

"We rely on these dedicated and skilled people to keep our NHS running.

"The next UK Government needs to guarantee that all of these doctors can stay in the NHS in Scotland.

"The damage that an extreme Brexit would cause to our NHS is enormous.
