Responding to Nicola Sturgeon's letter to the Prime Minister, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie MSP said:

"I proudly voted remain in June but I did not vote remain so that the First Minister could continue with her obsession on independence.

"There will be many voters who voted to remain in the EU who will be feeling betrayed by the SNP who are simply using Brexit for their own ends. It's shameless. The SNP are refusing to guarantee that an independent Scotland would be a full member of the EU meaning we are facing a prospect of Scotland out of both single markets.

"Yesterday we saw the unveiling of a mental health strategy that completely lacked ambition and is a symptom of a Government obsessed with constitutional issues rather than addressing the day job."
