Rennie: “Cast-iron mandate” will go down like lead

Responding to Nicola Sturgeon's comments in The Times today that she has a "cast-iron mandate" for a second independence referendum, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie MSP said:

"In the run up to the independence referendum, the First Minister's offered a "cast-iron commitment" of a once-in-a-lifetime vote.

"With that commitment in mind, her claims of a "cast-iron mandate" will likely go down like lead among the majority of businesses and people in Scotland who don't want to compound the Conservative Brexit chaos with a damaging second independence referendum.

"As the politics of division take hold once more, Scottish Liberal Democrats stand to unite people in keeping Scotland in the UK and the UK in the EU."
