Speaking ahead of today's stage three debate on the draft budget, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie MSP said:

"Today's budget is a missed opportunity. Whilst the brand new tax powers sit idle the budget fails to deliver a transformational investment in education and a step change in mental health services that the people want and the economy needs.

"Liberal Democrats will vote against the budget. Despite all the rhetoric about being different and better the SNP and Greens are failing to invest just like the Conservatives."
