Responding to revelations that the SNP headquarters is set to benefit from the proposed changes to business rates, Scottish Liberal Democrat business manager Mike Rumbles MSP said:

"The news that the headquarters of the SNP is set to gain from their proposed changes to business rates will leave a bitter taste in the mouth of many businesses. While some businesses are now having to contemplate their future due to these changes it turns out the SNP will profit from it. I wonder if they will now provide more support to their Banff and Buchan branch who couldn't afford a hotel room because of the changes to business rates.

"Liberal Democrats have pushed for a transitional scheme to give time for businesses to appeal their valuations. Despite two third of business supporting this view the SNP chose to ignore it. Instead of pursuing another reckless independence drive the SNP must start listening to businesses otherwise we will see our economy suffer as a result."
